TASILA MWALE

Tasila was one of the early 2000’s songbirds, she brought a unique style to an industry that is very much dominated by men so her arrival on the scene was a breath of fresh air. She was the R&B sensation of that time.
We have not heard from her since that time, she has literally gone off the grid, we hope to hear from the very talented song bird in the near future.
SHATEL

Shatel was the it duo of the early 2000’s, the duo consisted of Saboi and Barbara, with major hits like Genteleman, Naitopela,Dziko latu and perfect man. From their unique attires that every girl aspired to have and their lovely angelic dance moves, Shatel were truly a force to reckon with.
The pair are no longer pursuing music as they have moved on to other projects, Saboi went on to pursue a career in aw and is now a certified Lawyer and she eventually joined politics so we do get to see a lot of her but as for Barbara she has been keeping a very low profile, we have seen her make a few public appearances but it looks like they both will not get back to music anytime soon but you can never know.
PETERSEN

Petersen is one of Zambia’s pioneers of dancehall music, he made an impact with his controversial songs that kept the whole country talking. Both Petersen’s music and performances have one thing in common and that is the level of energy in them. From hits like Munyaule, topinge, Oxygen and Ama kwebo mu church, he made the early 2000’s worth while.
We do see a lot of him as he is still very much in the public eye, he eventually found a place in politics and he once stood for the position of Lusaka mayor and also stood as member of parliament in the just ended elections.
DANNY KAYA

If you do not know Danny Kaya then you were most likely living under a rock during the early 2000’s, he was known as the most controversial artist of that era, with lyrics that would normally push the envelope and topics that people would not openly talk about but he did and he did it without fear. His music was very insightful most of the times he would single out an issue that people are facing and address it in his music in his own kind of way.
He recently started his own brand of water but it did not do as well as he expected and he has continued with his live performances, you will see his name on a banner at least every other month. Some of his fans feel his is undefeated with his ability to sing live music till this day.

Nasty D was a sensational artist, the man is truly a legend, his Lucky Dube style of doing music quickly gave him recognition, he too was quite controversial with his music, he would through shots at the government and was just free to speak his mind. He had songs like waitaya and Tomato Tomatoe,. The an was greatly loved by many.
Nasty D has been missing in action for a really long time he lives a rather quite life with his wife and kids, he recently resurfaced but not musically, we saw him a series on Zambezi magic called Bogade, where he played a very interesting role alongside Kunkeyani and Chichi Daisy Lups.
