We will fight from the first to the last second declares FAZ
26-man crack squad for crucial Ghana match is unveiled.
The 6th September FIFA World Cup qualifier between the Chipolopolo and Ghana’s Black Stars is the most important match on our 2013 calendar; as such we will fight for victory from the first second to the last, the Football Association of Zambia has said.
Unveiling the 26-man squad which has seen the return of KAA Gent striker Roger Kola to the team, FAZ Media and Communications Manager Erick Mwanza said: “We know how tough it will be in Kumasi. Every match is tough but like the president (Kalusha) has said, we know how important this fixture is and understand what we need to do. So we are going to be well prepared and we will fight from the first whistle to the last. Our mission to Kumasi is to collect maximum points and we have the skills, talents and capability to achieve that.”
“Herve and his staff are confident that we will get the result we need to get to the final play-off round. The players have a wonderful spirit and are united around the mission and we are too. The better team, which we know is Chipolopolo, will carry the day and its our desire to see this match played in a fair manner with respect and in a conducive and brotherly manner.”
Herve Renard has called the entire legion of Chipolopolo stars who have been campaigning in the 2014 Qualifiers. Leading the stars are skipper Chris Katongo, FC Utrecht’s scoring machine Jacob Mulenga, Southampton’s Emmanuel Mayuka, Orlando Pirates Collins Mbesuma and James Chamanga.
Kennedy Mweene is in as is Danny Munyau. The Fox will be spoiled for quality in the creative midfield as Russian dribbling wizard Chisamba Lungu looks set to form deadly combinations with Romanian domiciled play-maker Fwayo Tembo, The Master Rainford Kalaba, 2013 Cosafa MVP Mukuka Mulenga with TP Mazembe’s hard working Nathan Sinkala set to command the holding role with towering Kondwani Mtonga. The entire regular back-line is all in and fully fit and is led by Africa’s best centre back Stoppila Sunzu, Hichani Himonde, Joseph Musonda, Davies Nkausu with Chintu Kampamba returning since the Nations Cup finals.
“We are delighted that the entire compliment of our players are enjoying top form and are injury free. Its our desire to see them remain this fit and injury free going into Kumasi next week,” Mwanza said adding: “Our camp will be set this Thursday in Johannesburg from where we will train until 48hours before the match when we jet into Kumasi.”
“Johannesburg is ideal for a variety of reasons and stands out when compared to earlier destinations which had we pushed through would have been disruptive to our objective of getting all the players in the right time and giving them quality training before Friday’s match.”
Mwanza reiterated FAZ president Kalusha Bwalya’s call for support.
