Video Games That Are Based On TV Shows

While many video games are original creations featuring their own stories and characters, some expand on narratives from comic books, films, television shows, and more! After discovering some great video games that may not be as well-known as they should, I decided to focus on the best games you should check out that are based on TV shows, some of which may even be your favourite!

“The game’s main antagonist, Android 21, was a normal female human who eventually became an Android created by the Red Ribbon Army after her son became the model for Android 16. Once she awakens, she repairs 16 and uses the Dragon Balls to resurrect Frieza, Cell, Nappa, and the Ginyu Force, and seals away the powers and souls of all of Earth’s strongest warriors. Wanting to control the hungry monster within her, she and 16 develop a linking system originally created by Dr. Gero in which a human soul (the player) can possess the warriors and provide them strength.”

Star Trek: Bridge Crew

“Star Trek: Bridge Crew takes place in the timeline established in the 2009 Star Trek film and sees the Starfleet ship USS Aegis searching for a new home world for the Vulcans after the destruction of their planet. The ship heads for a region of space called ‘The Trench’, which is being occupied by Klingons.”

South Park: The Stick of Truth

“The game follows the New Kid, who has moved to the eponymous town and becomes involved in an epic role-play fantasy war involving humans, wizards, and elves, who are fighting for control of the all-powerful Stick of Truth. Their game quickly escalates out of control, bringing them into conflict with aliens, Nazi zombies, and gnomes, threatening the entire town with destruction.”

SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom

“The core gameplay involves collecting items and defeating the robots which have attacked various areas in Bikini Bottom while crossing platforms and avoiding environmental hazards like spikes and flames. Some areas require different characters to beat, as each character has its unique abilities. The player can control SpongeBob, Patrick, and Sandy.”

Trollhunters: Defenders of Arcadia

“Trollhunters: Defenders of Arcadia is a side-scrolling action-platformer in which players control Jim Lake Jr or Claire Nuñez to prevent the Time-pocalypse. Players also collect artifacts, level up armour, and fight fantasy creatures (trolls, dragons, and goblins).”
