Upcoming Film Release Of The Batman

Scheduled for release on the 4^th of March 2022, ‘The Batman’ is an action-adventure film starring Robert Pattinson as the titular character Batman, aka Bruce Wayne, along with Zoë Kravitz as Selina Kyle/Catwoman, and Paul Dano as Edward Nashton/Riddler. This superhero film is based on the DC Comics character Batman and is about his venture into Gotham City’s underworld, “when a sadistic killer leaves behind a trail of cryptic clues”. There were mixed opinions, though a lot were negative, when it was revealed that Robert Pattinson was cast as Batman; however, the film release is in two days, so let us look at what we know so far and what we could expect from the upcoming film ‘The Batman’.

The plot of ‘The Batman’ is as follows:

“Batman ventures into Gotham City’s underworld when a sadistic killer leaves behind a trail of cryptic clues. As the evidence begins to lead closer to home and the scale of the perpetrator’s plans become clear, he must forge new relationships, unmask the culprit and bring justice to the abuse of power and corruption that has long plagued the metropolis.”

‘The Batman’ is produced by DC Films, 6th & Idaho, and Dylan Clark Productions, as well as distributed by Warner Bros Pictures. It is a reboot of the Batman film franchise, directed by Matt Reeves, who also wrote the screenplay with Peter Craig. The film itself is set in Batman’s second year of fighting crime, in which he uncovers the corruption in Gotham City while pursuing Riddler, the serial killer who targets Gotham City’s elites.

Originally, developments began with Ben Affleck as Batman in the DC Extended Universe back in 2013. After dropping out, Matt Reeves took over the project, reworking the story and removing the DC Extended Universe connection, then casted Robert Pattinson in 2019. During the production, more focus was put on Batman’s detective self by the director, which was inspired by films and comics like “Year One” in 1987 and “Ego” from 2000.
