The International Online Awards is a distinctly special awards ceremony honouring the best showbiz and entertainment personalities in the communities around the world. Founder Chanise Thompson who originates from Jamaica is the current Miss Commonwealth Caribbean and the International Online Awards is one of her many projects aimed at empowering individuals within the community in recognition of their work and talent.

Upon winning the award Elaka said “I really did not expect to win this award, it means the world to me and I thank God for this wonderful acknowledgement” she then completed her thank you speech by belting out a verse from her hit single ‘MyAfrica’ that was received with great applauds.

Elaka receives the award merely just over a year after releasing her début single ‘My Africa’ which featured Jamaican UK artist Samson Marley. My Africa shortly became a hit across the borders with audiences in Amsterdam, America, South Africa and the UK taking an instant liking to the song putting her in the top 40 of the Afribiz Charts and top 50 of an independent European chart. With the buzz around ‘My Africa’ Elaka later released a promo single titled ‘Baby Girl’ an unexpected hit which was being played around radio stations alongside My Africa. The two songs catapulted Elaka’s music career to greater heights so much that the Big Brother Africa producers played both songs in the Big Brother stargames in 2012. Currently on her 2nd single ‘Osanidoba’ a hard hitting single that speaks on behalf of the masses in the entertainment industry the award comes amidst the pending release of her video for the single and with the soon to be announced release date of her collaboration with award winning Zambian dance hall artist Petersen Zagaze.

Currently still working with multi award winning legendary producer Dr Gary Hutchins whose CV boasts of  working the likes of Frank Sinatra, Shirley Bassey, Anastasia, Michael Buble, Mariah Carey and a host of other A list musical talents, the highly anticipated album is set to bring back music into today’s bubblegum pop industry.

On her future releases an album Elaka had this to say: “I am currently working on two music videos and new songs to add to the repertoire for my début album, the year so

far since my début single has been phenomenon, I have developed a widespread fanbase to which i am grateful for supporting my music and my journey. The single I recorded with Petersen is titled ‘My Number One’ and I think people will really love this song as it is Elaka meets Petersen type of sound so there is something in it for both our fan bases. I am excited for what the year has in store for me as God is leading the way and I am simply following so everything else is still under wraps and i shall be announcing as projects get unfolded”
