Tom Holland’s Spider-Man Is Confirmed For Another Trilogy

Once ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ is released on the 15^th of December 2021, the current Spider-Man trilogy will be wrapped up for the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU); however, Sony producer Amy Pascal has recently confirmed in an interview with Fandango that Tom Holland will be returning for another future trilogy for the Spider-Man films in the MCU!

Amy Pascal says during the interview, “This is not the last movie that we are going to make with Marvel… We are getting ready to make the next Spider-Man movie with Tom Holland and Marvel… we’re thinking of this as three films, and now we’re going to go onto the next three. This is not the last of our MCU movies. Marvel and Sony are going to keep going together as partners.”

Tom Holland responded to this news during the promotion for ‘No Way Home’ to the French TV show ‘Quotidien’, saying that there are some “very exciting things” being discussed behind the scenes. He added, “Listen, all I’ll say is we have some very, very exciting things to be talking about. I don’t know what those things are or what they will transpire to be, but it looks like it’s an incredibly bright future ahead. And, as I’ve said before, Spider-Man will forever live in me.”

Originally, unlike all other major Marvel heroes, the rights to Spider-Man and the associated villains, allies, and side characters are owned by Sony, who picked up the rights to the characters back in 1998. Therefore, Disney and Sony came to an agreement in 2015 that allowed Marvel Studios to use Spider-Man as part of the popular Marvel Cinematic Universe series of films, in exchange for Marvel Studios co-producing Spider-Man films set in that same universe for Sony Pictures.

Sony Pictures recently signed a deal that would license out future film releases for Disney’s streaming platforms starting in 2022. Marvel Studios have also recently announced an animated prequel to its Spider-Man films, called ‘Spider-Man: Freshman Year’, coming to Disney Plus in the future. Further news will be out soon in regard to this, so keep a look out for that!

With ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ soon to come out on the 15^th of December, we cannot be more excited to see the events of the films take place, knowing that there will be a further three confirmed films for Spider-Man to follow!
