Actor Dwayne Johnson says he will no longer use real guns on set ever again after the fatal shooting incident involving Alec Baldwin on the set of ‘Rust’.
The Rock was in Los Angeles attending the world premier of his new blockbuster Red Notice with co-star Ryan Reynolds and Gal Gadot and there he made mention that films made by his company, seven Buck productions will no longer use real guns on set anymore.
This is in line with the terrible incident that happened on the set of Rust where cinematographer Halyna Hutchins was killed on October 21st when a gun Alec Baldwin was holding released a live bullet. Baldwin was told that the gun was safe to use but unfortunately it was not.
The incident has spiked concern about the use f prop guns like the one that was used by Baldwin. Who has disputed claims that the set was chaotic and unsafe.
“This has created a new lens and perspective on how we can operate moving forward, as awful as this situation is, we have to use this as an example to be smarter as we move forward, be safer. Making movies and on sets is still a safe place and a lot of precaution is taken.” said Johnson
“I’ve known Alec for many, many years. He’s a buddy of mine. And my heart goes out to the families of everybody who was involved.”
“Moving forward, on any Seven Bucks Production, television, film or otherwise, we will not use real guns ever again, we are going to be using rubber guns and we’ll take care of it in post. We won’t worry about the dollars, we won’t worry about the math or what the cost is. I think we’re going to do it the right way.” He went on to say.
Countless famous action movies have opted to modify fake on-set guns with CGI, including the John Wick franchise and The Raid.
