The Billion Dollar Code Review

Based on a true story, the mini-TV series, consisting of four episodes, follows two German computer innovators who go to court to be recognised for the invention of the Google Earth algorithm. The series was released on Netflix on the 7th of October and is originally in German; luckily, for all those who would like to enjoy this in English, there are both subtitles and a dubbed version available.

The true story was inspired by the Winklevoss brothers in Berlin of Germany who claim that they created the Google Earth algorithm; and the actors representing their story are Lavinia Wilson, Mark Waschke, Mišel Matičević, Leonard Scheicher, Seumas F. Sargent, and Marius Ahrendt. Everyone on the show did a very fascinating job exploring the intersection of art and technology in the early days of the internet, which is why this series is excellent for those interested in the tech world.
The story is an exciting history lesson, as well as a powerful lesson on how important it is for inventors to get good legal advice when they decide to turn their ideas into businesses. The interactive elements of the show provides a unique experience that allows viewers to sit back and watch the case unfold through all sorts of emotions, even if it starts to get tense between the characters.

The drama and thriller TV show was created by Oliver Ziegenbalg and Robert Thalheim, who spoke about wanting to pattern the story of The Billion Dollar Code on the “beautiful losers” during the case against Google; and although some people have reviewed the show saying that it is similar to The Social Network, most other people have also applauded the series saying that this was very fresh and thrilling to watch the fight between the ART+COM group and Google. In fact, the audience score on Rotten Tomatoes is currently on 100%, so if you have not already watched the mini-TV series yet, check out the trailer below for a better idea of what the four episodes are all about.
If you like the sound of The Billion Dollar Code, go on Netflix, and start watching now, you will not regret it!
