Stardew Valley Board Game is Back!

By  |

ConcernedApe, otherwise known as Eric Barone, is the developer of the indie video game ‘Stardew Valley’ who surprised fans with a second chance to purchase the board game adaptation of ‘Stardew Valley’ from 12pm PST on the 3rd of November. The first time the board game went on sale was in February earlier this year; it was sold out so quickly that Eric Barone later promised fans that there will be a second chance to buy the board game, which is finally here!

The cooperative board game is based on the ‘Stardew Valley’ video game; you will work together with your fellow farmers to save the Valley from JojaMart Corporation, which requires you to gather different types of resources represented by tiles. During each turn, one person will draw a card from the deck of 20 to trigger certain events, as well as focus on individual actions by placing the designated pawn in a part of the Valley to visit specific locations to gather resources. By befriending the local villagers, players will earn hearts that allows them to reveal hidden goals, and only by working together can they stop JojaMart Corporation from moving in and taking over the Valley.

The ‘Stardew Valley’ board game was created by Eric Barone and Cole Medeiros, who played a co-op game of ‘Stardew Valley’ and discussed the idea of making a board game adaptation in 2018. Over the next year, they went through multiple prototypes before they finally settled on a satisfactory combination of Community Centre Bundles and Grandpa’s Goals. After this, they spent time playtesting and refining the board game, including making adjustments to the art style and the mechanics.
