POPULAR Zambian hip-hop artiste Slapdee, otherwise born as Mwila Musonda has inked a deal with one of the world’s renowned bookmaker, 1XBET as a brand ambassador.

The ‘Nomba Ninshi’ singer and founder of the X.Y.Z record label joins a long list of top drawer celebrities that are marketing the 1XBET brand globally.

He was unveiled at a press briefing at Taj Pamodzi Hotel in Lusaka on Friday.

Announcing the deal, 1XBET operations manager Kafupi Muwana revealed that the partnership will open exciting doors for both the Kalandanya Music Promotions (KMP) signed artiste and the bookmaker itself.

The rapper, record producer, businessman, and multi award-winning artiste is also delighted about the deal. He took to his Twitter and posted: “Fruits of my labor I enjoy em while they still ripe.”

Other endorsements to his name include being regional brand ambassador for Kung Fu Energy drink, the Frutiola drink, and also Itel mobile phone.

Having won multiple awards since his debut in 2006, Slapdee is often regarded as one of the pioneers of Zambian hip-hop.

Slapdee was raised by his aunt, after losing his parents and brother. Because of his aunt’s career, he moved around often, even attending schools in Botswana and South Africa. During his high school years, Slapdee returned to Zambia where he befriended future musician Hamoba, and the two started making music together.

His musical career began in 2006 when he released ‘Asembe Isebenza’. After a while it got identified by promoter Sync and got the needed buzz for a rising star. Released a debut album ‘Asembe isebenza’ and gained Slapdee a decent radio hype and generated a buzz in the hip-hop underground.

Although his debut album wasn’t a success, Slapdee released a second album So Che, launching him into a household name, with the hit songs Solola and Takwaba. The album catapulted the young rhymesmith to national stardom and confirmed what well-informed critics had suspected; The next big thing had arrived!
