LUSAKA, ZAMBIA – July 17, 2015 – The 60 semi-finalists vying for the top K250,000 grand prize in the Nyamuka Zambia business plan competition submitted their final business plans this week.

Each of the 60 business plans will now be assessed by panels of independent judges, after which 20 finalists will be selected. These finalists will work further on their business plans with the help of experts and mentors to perfect their proposals ready for final scrutiny and shortlisting for the top five prizes by a final jury of business leaders.

The 20 finalists, who will be announced on August 18 and all of them will receive substantial cash prizes and technical support to bring their business concepts to life.

After submitting her business plan, CEO and co-founder of online grocery delivery service ShopZed Cassandra Mtine said: “The best part of the competition has been getting all our ideas on paper and being able to see things to year two or year three. And the worst part of the competition has been a lack of sleep!”

Manager of the Nyamuka Zambia business plan competition Shalin Jethi said: “The semi-finalists have derived a lot of benefit from being in the competition. Firstly, they have all been developing their business plans, which they are submitting this week. These are full business plans, six pages long with market information and financial forecasts. And they have had the help and one-to-one business advice from qualified and professional business advisers who had been assigned to each semi-finalist. So in that respect alone, they’ve had an enormous journey in developing their business plans. The transformation from where they were to where they are today is indeed remarkable and for all to see.”
