SINGER AKON LAUNCHES CRYPTOCURRENCY CARD

By  |

Akon has finally launched the official card for his cryptocurrency Akoin, the singer made the announcement on his Instagram account. The card can be used in any place where a master card is accepted.

“It’s Done,” he writes in the caption. “The official Akoin Card!!! Which allows you to now spend your AKOIN (AKN) where ever master card is accepted. I’m sure you can’t freely spend your crypto in any of your favorite stores right? Well you can with AKOIN (AKN) so grab yours now on BitMart.com before we expand to the major exchanges.”

This all came about after an incident that he had when coming from Dakar to Paris, the singer had tried to change Senegalese currency to Euros and he was told he was unable to.

He had not had time to convert one currency to the other before he left for his trip and was stuck with a pocketful of CFA francs, the currency used in many French-speaking West African countries, including Senegal and nowhere to spend them.

“It really just opened my eyes,” said Akon. “That really catapulted the energy to say we have to have our own currency. I do not care what it takes we’re going to fix this.”

Akoin will not only work as a utility token but as an ecosystem of tools and services designed for entrepreneurs. It can be purchased via a secure online wallet using major cryptocurrencies such as stellar, Bitcoin or credit/debit card.

That very encounter is the reason he managed to come up with Akoin, this will also be a local currency in Akon city, where he plans on building a futuristic Hub right in Senegal, the government has already released the land although they will not be funding the project.

So far it has been received with great enthusiasm and sounds like a great idea but many feel it might be opposed in the long run by unsupportive government regulations and beyond.
