Scarlet Describes Singing The National Anthem At President-Elect Inauguration Ceremony As Dream Come True
The Munisungile Banja singer reached out to President elect Hakainde Hichilema on Twitter in July
SINGER and songwriter Scarlett, born as Jemimah Lerato Chulu who in July this year reached out to Zambia’s 7th President elect Hakainde Hichilema on Twitter about how she desired to sing at his inauguration ceremony if ever he won, has had her wish come true.
Going by the response she got from President elect Hichilema, it seems likely that she will be the one to sing or lead the nation in singing the National Anthem at the inauguration ceremony.
Hichilema who at the time responded by saying, “God willing and courtesy of the Zambian people, we shall be victorious and when it happens… Scarlett we have a deal” came back to the singer and asked her whether she was ready to sing the National Anthem at his inauguration ceremony which is slated for August 24 at the National Heroes Stadium in Lusaka.
The gesture has left Scarlett over the moon with excitement. At the time of reaching out to Hichilema, she was merely taking a long shot which she didn’t know where it would land.
She wrote on her Facebook: “I wish that I could have this moment for life… This will be ringing in my head on Tuesday! I reached out on the 23rd of July because it has always been a dream of mine to sing for a President. Just a girl, with a dream and God who hears shooting my shot on Twitter to a President who keeps his promises. It’s really happening and I am really grateful! When you ask me about highlights from now on, this will be top two and not two. God is good! #ChangeIsHere #DreamsComeTrue #HappyNewYear #ZambiaDecided2021.”
