SAMUEL ETO’O DECLARES HIS INTENTION TO STAND AS PRESIDENT OF THE CAMEROON FOOTBALL FEDERATION

Samuel Eto’o has officially announced his intent to stand as a presidential candidate of the Cameroonian Football Federation (Fecafoot) , He took to social media to make this announcement.

Eto’o who experienced a successful career as a soccer player himself, wants to head the country’s governing body that has not had a substantial head since 2018.

Samuels achievements as a footballer go far beyond the African soil following his exceptional performances at Barcelona, Inter Milan, Anzhi Makhachkala, Chelsea and Everton. He has had quite a successful career and is appreciated all over the world.

He took to social media in a long statement talking about his motivation to become president of Fecafoot;

“I am honoured and pleased to announce my candidacy for the Presidency of the Cameroon Football Federation. After careful considerations, I have decided to take this initiative out of love for Cameroon and passion for our football,” Eto’o wrote on instagram.

“To me, it would be an honour to be at the service of the establishment that has bestowed upon me all the accolades I’ve received so far. I stand before you on this special occasion because time is of the essence. Waiting is not an option. It is time to rebuild our football. We can no longer delay the revamping of our number one sport because the rest of the world is moving on; it is progressing without us.”

Fecafoot is yet to announce the the release of the list that will show who the final list of eligible candidates to run for presidency. This has delayed the elections which are set to take place on 11 December, with the Africa Cup o Nations set to start in Cameroon on January the 9th.

Samuel’s career has been one amazing journey, to say it was successful would be an understatement, he has won numerous trophies with Barcelona and Inter Milan, he has also represented his country Cameroon at four Fifa world cups.

Many feel that Samuel Eto’o would be great as the president of fecafoot due to his vast experience, his understanding of the sport makes him a valuable candidate and since the position has not hard a worthy representative for some time the former footballer stands a good chance at winning these elections.
