Robert Downey Jr. and Director Shane Black reunite For Parker Series

Having first worked together on the 2005 black comedy crime thriller ‘Kiss Kiss Bang Bang’, actor Robert Downey Jr. and the director Shane Black had reunited for the 2013 Marvel film ‘Iron Man 3’; now, it seems they have teamed up again for the upcoming and new adaptation of author Donald E. Westlake’s Parker novels. This will be made through Amazon Studios with Shane Black writing the script for the film. Robert Downey Jr. will be the star and producer, alongside the actor’s wife Susan Downey, as well as Joel Silver, who also worked with Shane Black previously on ‘Lethal Weapon’ and ‘The Nice Guys’.
The Parker novels were previously published by Westlake under the pseudonym Richard Stark; the books follow the life of a professional thief known as Parker. These Parker novels have already “spawned several adaptations including Point Blank, The Split, The Outfit, Slayground, and the 1999 Mel Gibson-led Payback. The latest film, titled Parker, took its story from the 19th novel in the series and starred Jason Statham as the titular character.”

Robert Downey Jr. will now take the role of Parker this time, which is to stream exclusively on Amazon Prime Video. Shane Black will be writing and directing, adding his “own flair to the character”.
Before this happens, Robert Downey Jr. will be seen in a feature called ‘Play Dirty’, through which audiences will be introduced to Parker, “a cutthroat, one of a kind, professional thief who takes his line of work dead serious”.
