Rihanna and A$AP Rocky Expecting Their First Child: Reactions

Announced just yesterday on the 31^st of January, Rihanna is expecting her first child with the rapper boyfriend A$AP Rocky; the couple were out in Harlem, which is Rocky’s hometown, where the singer debuted the baby bump. Many have congratulated the couple who have quite a history together, so let us take a look at their relationship timeline, as well as reactions to the baby bump!

2012 is the year when the two stars first collaborated as A$AP Rocky, whose real name is Rakim Mayers, featured in a remix version of Rihanna’s single “Cockiness (Love It)”. After its release, the duo performed together at the MTA Video Music Awards. The following year of 2013, the famous rapper joined the North American part of Rihanna’s Diamonds World Tour, in which he performed as her opening act.

Years later in June of 2017, Rihanna started dating the billionaire Hassan Jameel, who is the Toyota heir and a billionaire from Saudi Arabia; they kept a low profile throughout their relationship. Around this time, A$AP Rocky was reported to be romantically linked to the supermodel Kendall Jenner; both were spotted together since February that year and were even photographed along with the rest of the Kardashian family during Kanye West’s fashion week show.

One year later and the two, Rihanna and A$AP Rocky, attended the Louis Vuitton show, where they sat front row next to each other during the Paris Fashion Week. It was a major clue that they maintained their friendship over the past few years.

The same year of 2018, Rihanna invited A$AP Rocky to her annual Diamond Ball. The ball “doubles as the fashion affair of the year and a charitable event, as it supports funds to the Clara Lionel Foundation, the organisation she founded to support educational programs across the globe”. Rocky turned up debuting at the fourth annual Diamond Ball, but not the last because the following year in 2019, he was invited and attended the fifth annual Diamond Ball.

At the end of 2019, the pair attended the British Fashion Awards in London, where they walked the red carpet together. Rihanna wore a mint-green satin dress by her fashion brand Fenty, and Rocky supported her brand by also stepping out in a black suit by Fenty.

In January of 2020, it was reported that Rihanna had split with her boyfriend Hassan Jameel after a three-year relationship; not long after, rumours between Rihanna and A$AP Rocky started to come up. A source told The Sun at the time, “They shared a hotel suite during that trip in New York. However, Rihanna is reluctant to put a label on it as it’s so soon after Hassan. They’re really enjoying each other’s company and taking things easy as it’s still early days. It’s really casual between them and she’s not thinking about whether there’s a future with Rocky. She’s a newly-single girl having fun.”

In August of that same year, the pair collaborated once again but this time it was to promote Fenty Skin. A$AP Rocky answered 18 questions from Rihanna through GQ, in which Rihanna had invited the rapper to talk all about skincare before her launch of her Fenty Skin line. She said, “Men love their skin, and they take care of it, but they feel obligated almost to only use products that are for men because anything beyond that feels too feminine, it’s not for them, they’re not allowed, they don’t have permission.”

A$AP Rocky said, “I had to discover face cleansing and skin care all at the same time when I was a young buck in the shower. You can’t wash your body with the same rag you wash your face with. I was lucky enough to be the type of guy that wants to wash my face.”

The couple’s romance was finally confirmed in December 2020, when Page Six reported the pair being spotted at the Beatrice Inn in New York City; PEOPLE then reported that a source confirmed their romance. Although both remained quiet about the dating rumours, they were spotted strolling through New York City at night and were described as “inseparable in the past few weeks”. Their relationship seemed to have been pretty serious as Rocky even joined Rihanna and her family in Barbados for Christmas.

In January 2021, Rihanna publicly supported A$AP Rocky’s footwear on Instagram that he designed himself in collaboration with footwear designer Amina Muaddi, and a few months after that, they couple went on a dinner date at Delilah in Los Angeles; according to a source, they went official in the summer of 2020.

During an interview that year with GQ, A$AP Rocky called Rihanna “my lady” and “the love of my life”; when speaking about what it is like being in a relationship, he said, “So much better when you got the One. She amounts to probably, like, a million of the other ones. I think when you know, you know. She’s the One.”
