Remembering ‘Goodfellas’ Actor Ray Liotta

By  |

Raymond Allen Liotta was an American actor and producer best known for playing Joe Jackson in ‘Field of Dreams’, Henry Hill in ‘Goodfellas’, and Tommy Vercetti in the video game ‘Grand Theft Auto: Vice City’. He unfortunately passed away in his sleep at the age of 67 on the 26th of May 2022 in the Dominican Republic; he had been there filming the new film ‘Dangerous Waters’. In remembrance of Ray Liotta, I have decided to go through all the amazing works he has done in his lifetime, so read on for more.

Ray Liotta had gotten his big break when playing ex-convict Ray Sinclair in 1986 black comedy ‘Something Wild’. He received a Golden Globe nomination for the role and went on to star in the 1988 film ‘Dominick and Eugene’, which is about a strained relationship between very different twins.

By the 90s, Ray Liotta had gotten a chance to star in ‘Unlawful Entry’, ‘Cop Land’, and ‘Corrina, Corrina’, alongside actress Whoopi Goldberg.

In 2016, the actor admitted that he was regretting turning down the chance to audition for Tim Burton’s ‘Batman’ film. He said, “When I did my first movie, Tim Burton was getting ready to do Batman and he was interested in me because he wanted it to be edgy and real. I thought, ‘Batman? That’s a stupid idea’, even though he had just done one of my favourite movies of all time, Beetlejuice. So yes, I regret not auditioning for that’.”

In 2019, Ray Liotta played as a lawyer Jay Marotta in the critically acclaimed film ‘Marriage Story’, starring Adam Driver and Scarlet Johansson as a couple whose relationship was breaking up. Last year in 2021, he also starred in the Sopranos prequel film ‘The Many Saints Of Newark’, after having turned down the opportunity to be in the original series.

Recently, the actor has finished working on the film to be released in 2023 called ‘The Cocaine Beer’, directed by Elizabeth Banks.

After the news of his passing hit, many on social media posted a tribute for Ray Liotta – as follows – as he was not only a great actor to many but also a great friend and family member.
