Queen Elizabeth II back in Windsor after overnight hospital stay

Queen Elizabeth II cancelled a visit to Northern Ireland on Wednesday the 20th of October 2021 and spent that night in hospital for preliminary medical checks instead, as advised by royal doctors; this is the Queen’s first stay at the private hospital in eight years, the last time being in 2013 when she suffered symptoms of gastroenteritis.
The 95-year-old monarch travelled by car to the King Edward VII’s Hospital in Marylebone, where she was seen by specialists; the admittance is understood as not to be related to coronavirus. This hospital is privately used by senior royals, including the Queen’s husband, the late Duke of Edinburgh, who received treatment earlier this year before his passing in April.
Buckingham palace has recently informed that the Queen returned from the hospital in Central London at lunchtime on Thursday the 21st of October and is back at Windsor Castle now where her family have come to visit – she was described to be “in good spirits”.

Queen Elizabeth II was given medical advice to rest after a busy schedule of public engagements. A spokesperson for Buckingham Palace said, “Following medical advice to rest for a few days, the Queen attended hospital on Wednesday afternoon for some preliminary investigations…”
It is believed that the medical team acted out of caution to have her admitted on Wednesday; however, according to the Times, a source close to the Queen said, “She is knackered.”

Prime Minister Boris Johnson also spoke of the news and said, “Everybody sends Her Majesty our very very best wishes.” He added that he was “given to understand that actually Her Majesty is characteristically back at her desk at Windsor as we speak.”
Her Majesty is indeed back at her desk since Thursday after spending the night in hospital on Wednesday evening; the Queen was determined that the message from Windsor should be “business as usual”.
