Proflight Zambia making air travel more affordable

October 27, 2015 – LUSAKA, ZAMBIA – Five lucky winners and their friends will be jetting to South Africa next month to ‘do Durban’ having won free flights with Proflight.

The airline had an overwhelming response to its social media competition in which it invited followers to upload photographs that celebrate the attractions of Durban and the joys of Proflight’s service.

Out of the 126 entrants, the five with the most Facebook likes won free tickets.

“We are excited to announce five winners of the competition on our newly launched international route. This is a big step towards promoting Zambia abroad and it is an opportunity given to travellers to experience Proflight’s quality service,” says Captain Phillip Lemba, Director of Government and Industry Affairs at Proflight Zambia.

The competition, which started on Monday, October 19, 2015, closed on Saturday, October 24, 2015, and photos uploaded by participants went through a strict selection process.

The five winners of the competition from different parts of the country are Fern Gee, Kunda Funga, Natasha Mwanaumo, Leorato Mubiana and Mimi Daka Namakando.

Proflight Zambia launched its inaugural flight to Durban, South Africa, from Lusaka on September 22 directly linking the two cities, flying three times a week to Durban using its 50-seater CRJ-100 aircraft.

Durban is one of South Africa’s most popular cities and from last month Zambia residents can fly direct from Lusaka thanks to the new three-times-a-week service operated by Proflight Zambia that also links into the airline’s network of domestic destination across Zambia

Durban has become one of South Africa’s most visited places over the past few years both as a tourist centre and an important business hub, being home to the ninth largest harbour in the world and the busiest cargo port and container terminal in Southern Africa.

Tourist attractions include Durban’s beaches, the world class uShaka Marine World and top-notch shopping. The city regularly hosts world-class musical events, cultural functions and sporting activities, and was recently selected to host the 2022 Commonwealth Games. A host of trade and consumer exhibitions are also lined up for coming months.

Durban is also home to a number of world-renowned schools that attract pupils from Zambia as well as elsewhere across Africa.

Flight P0024 leaves Lusaka at 11:00hrs on Thursdays Fridays (from October 30) and Saturdays, arriving in Durban at 13:30hrs. The returning P0025 flight leaves Durban at 14:10hrs on Thursdays and Fridays (from October 30) and arrives in Lusaka at 16:40hrs. On Sundays P0023 leaves Durban at 12:00hrs and arrives back in Lusaka at 14:30hrs.
