Nokia brings back its ‘Brick’ phone for the 20th Anniversary

By  |

To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the classic Nokia 6310, Nokia decided to re-release an updated version of the ‘brick’ phone along with the popular game of ‘Snake’; and having the maker of Nokia phones, HMD Global, giving the iconic 6310 a makeover to match the modern era, there is no doubt that we will receive a fresh package of nostalgia.

As a previously worldwide popular handset during the early days of mobiles, the Nokia 6310 was well-known for its durability and trademark long battery life; this latest evolution is promised to retain the tough polycarbonate shell and expand the long-lasting battery life to 22 days.

Many people are excited to purchase the old favourite Nokia phone, which went on sale on Thursday the 14thof October, being available in black and yellow from its online store directly at a price of £59.00.

Not only are we presented with an old favourite mobile phone, this version of Nokia 6310 will include brand new features such as a built-in 0.8-megapixel camera, some new apps, basic connectivity to the internet, and the ability to listen to news channels on wireless FM radio. ‘Snake’ fans will be able to play the game to their hearts content, as original features from the old model will also be included in the new Nokia, such as basic emails, texts, and picture messages.

Although, the new model of Nokia 6310 will not be a replica of its founding series, which had been discontinued in 2005, this new update will resemble the ‘brick’ look, which had earned its title after users would film themselves dropping and stomping on the phone, calling it ‘an indestructible phone’.

Adam Ferguson, Head of Product Marketing at HMD Global, spoke regarding the release of the phone: “’They don’t make them like they used to’ is a phrase we’ve disowned. We still bring that signature build quality to all of our devices. The Nokia 6310 is back and better than ever. For all feature phone lovers, it’s the original and iconic model and whilst its 2.8-inch curved window screen may be new, it still retains its familiar design and functionality.”

We are as excited as everyone else on social media platforms wanting to get our hands on the new version of Nokia 6310 only to find ourselves playing ‘Snake’. If you are interested in purchasing this mobile phone, then check out the link down below!
