Looper Film Review

By  |

Originally released on the 28th of September 2012, Looper is now officially available to stream on Netflix; and with 93% positive ratings on Rotten Tomatoes, 5/5 on Empire, and 7.4/10 on IMDb, this film is a must watch for everyone interested in sci-fi and action film genres. Rian Johnson, who is the director for Looper, also wrote the screenplay with an interesting story about how in the near future, a “mob sends their victims back in time to get them executed by the loopers. Joe, one such looper, finds himself to be the victim of his own actions.”

Joseph Gordon-Levitt as “Joe” and Noah Segan as “Kid Blue” in TriStar Pictures, Film District, and End Game Entertainment’s action thriller LOOPER.

This time-travel film takes unexpected turns and twists when characters discover the consequences of their actions. The film is set in the future, in the year 2044, and also 30 years ahead of that in the year 2074, when time travel is invented; it is made illegal at once by the government. Killing people is difficult due to forensic skills and new technology, therefore, victims are sent 30 years back to be killed by assassins in the year 2044. However, the assassins, called loopers, must one day kill their older selves, who are sent to them from the future, due to the fact that these loopers know too much and must one day end the loop of information.

Unfortunately, if you do not live in Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary, Portugal, and Romania, you will not be able to stream Looper on Netflix. The lead role stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Joe, with Bruce Willis playing the future version of Joe. Other cast members include Emily Blunt, Paul Dano, and Jeff Daniels.

This inventive sci-fi drama Looper is one that is not like the typical time-travel genres, so do not judge it by the synopsis or the concept until you watch it! If you are interested in the film, check out the trailer and start streaming the film on Netflix HERE.
