The ‘Arthur’ series’ final episode, titled “All Grown Up”, aired on the 21st of February on PBS, giving the viewers “a look at the eight-year-old aardvark’s future”; the animated series first started back in October 1996 and has been the longest running children’s series with 25 seasons that has now come to an end. The finale was set in 2042 and narrated the lives and careers of all the characters from the show, such as Arthur, Francine, Buster, Brain, Muffy, and Sue Ellen. In particular, the 20-year flash forward ended with Arthur becoming a graphic novelist and debuting his novel about getting his first pair of glasses, which just so happened to be the plot of the very first episode of ‘Arthur’!

The finale came after more than 250 episodes, however, this may not be the end of the characters and their story, because they are expected to continue existing through a new ‘Arthur’ podcast, games, and digital shorts. Marc Brown is the bestselling ‘Arthur’ author, which was first published in 1976, who is still surprised that so many love the series even after 25 years. His book was adapted into the television hit series that has now come to an end, but the author has teased that there may be a motion picture possibility! – keep a look out for further news on this.

“Social media was flooded with users expressing gratitude to the show’s creator as many adults admitted to shedding tears while tuning into the finale.” Marc Brown said in response to the reactions: “I love seeing reactions from these young adults who grew up with Arthur, the fact that these characters are still fresh in their minds. It’s great that he’s touched so many people so deeply that they want him to continue.”
