Living through the experience or taking pictures for memories?

It can be seen as annoying sometimes when you are with a person who does nothing but take pictures of their life. This can be everything, from the food they are eating, to the places they are visiting, and the activities they are doing, etc. Usually, these pictures are taken to put up on social media, or more specifically, to put up on stories for Instagram or other similar social media platforms.
Arguments have been made that other people do not remember what you ate, did, or where you went after a day, so what is the point of putting up these kinds of stories?
It all comes down to making memories. People love to take pictures and videos, because it is how you create memories of the moments you enjoy the most. It can be enjoyable to live through an amazing experience, but most people would also want to look back and remember those experiences, which makes them happy to look back at.
Some social media platforms even have features to help you look back at some of the pictures you took, like Snapchat shows you what you did this time last year or what you have done this past month.

However, sometimes people can also go overboard with the number of pictures taken. I have seen someone’s photo gallery with 50 pictures of just one plate of sushi before.
A lot of users online have said that pictures should be treated as if a payment is being taken each time you take a photo. This way, people will be more cautious of how many to take and when to take it.
On the other hand, this takes away the joy of taking pictures, as sometimes getting the right angle or pose can be difficult. It is nice to take multiple pictures of people, so in this case, no one should treat it as if they are paying for each picture.
It is important to also remember that, while taking pictures is great, living in the moment is also an unforgettable experience. When you are somewhere with a stunning view or a hypnotizing attraction, then taking it in with your own eyes can be very satisfying in the long run, when you remember yourself feeling the way you did.
Sometimes, we are so focused on taking pictures, we miss the experience itself. This is something that can be difficult to come back to, as most experiences are a one time and unique occurrence. Even if you do the exact same thing, each time will always be different.
Due to this, it is important to balance out how often you spend time behind the camera, and how much time you are giving yourself to fully experience an event, moment, or life. It can be just as wonderful to let yourself take a few pictures, and then enjoy yourself as you are or with the people around.
