In 2018 King Illest won a competition held by Ballantine, True Music Africa which saw him represesnt Zambia at the Broiler room experience in South Africa, he also became the brand ambassador for the Ballantine’s brand in Zambia.

The relatively new rapper has had an impressive career so far and he is not showing any signs of stopping anytime soon, he has been labelled by fans as the King of New wave but that can be debated as Kunkeyani’s fans also believe that ‘The Jedi’ is the King of new wave, whatever the case King Illest is definitely one act to watch, he has shown a great level of consistency in his craft and his Tonga style of rap sets him apart from fellow artist, as it stands only him and Slapdee can pull off a Tonga verse and make it sound so cool.
