Jay Ruller debuts with D.W.A album

JAY Ruller, a 25-year-old Livingstone based recording artiste of many genres has released his long awaited 18 track debut album dubbed D.W.A (Dreams, Work, Ambition).

Born Emmanuel Musonda, Jay Ruller told TGZ Magazine that the album is very inspiring and will spur anyone that listens to it to work even harder in their quest to achieving their ambitions.

“I took my time recording this album and I am only hoping and praying that it touches people the right way. This is my first ever studio album and I will do everything possible to make sure that I set a good standard for myself,” he said.

The artiste who is also a member of a Livingstone based music group called JAE Squad said him working on a solo album does not in any way suggest that he has ditched the crew.

“No, JAE Squad is still intact and in fact, we are even looking to recruit new members to the crew. So far, we have one very talented female artiste called Ceanna and soon we will be working on a eight track collaboration album together,” he said.

Jay Ruller who is also a gym instructor says his album will be a game changer for music in Livingstone.

“I don’t want to be the one that just does music without releasing albums. I want to show everyone in Livingstone that you can be new and upcoming in the game and still record and release an album. I have a dream of wanting to make it big in music and the album will make people understand what we mean when we say we are JAE Squad and that we can do just about everything.

“The album has all kinds of genres and I have no specific target audience. I am singing for everyone. We want to go big and better… As JAE Squad, we are still creating more work – people should watch out for an EP that will be dropping very soon,” he said.

He said the collaboration EP he is currently working on with Ceanna will be titled Love Tree. The D.W.A album also contains songs that were recorded together as JAE Squad. Albeit bearing in mind that he is new in the industry, Jay Ruller didn’t want to go all out without testing the waters first. In that vein, he printed only 50 copies of the album.

“So far, so good. I feel that it is going to go very well. The support that I am receiving from people so far is very overwhelming, so much much that I might even consider making more copies,” he said. He is also wary of piracy but won’t pay so much attention to it for fear of it getting to his head.

The track list includes songs: D.W.A, Alyssa featuring CMP, Bad Girl, I Got Love featuring Ceanna, Hallelujah, Over Here, I Love You featuring Hamvee Jae, Focus featuring Ice Flow (Sky Empire), Oh Nanana, Controller featuring Hamvee Jae, More Money featuring Jae Cristal, Let Her Go featuring Hamvee Jae, Booty Twerk featuring Jae Cristal and D Boy and Getting Better featuring Jae Cristal and CMP.

Other songs are Love Me featuring Faith SM, Take Me Away featuring Jae Squad and Gracious May, Angel Eyes featuring Hannah, Better Days featuring 9th Letter and a bonus track My Story featuring Hamvee Jae.

All songs on the album except Focus which was produced by Sky Empire were produced by Chisano Mupila, a Livingstone based producer also known as CMP.
