HOW TO HELP YOUR KIDS PREPARE FOR EXAMS

Exams are around the corner for most school going children and as a parent it can be difficult to get your kids ready for exams, especially those that are used to their daily routine, breaking it and adapting to a more exam friendly routine can be quite challenging. Here are a few tips that you can use to better prepare your child for exams.
MONITOR SCHOOL WORK
For you to be able to help your child you need to have a clear understanding of where exactly they are, monitor their school work closely because the exam is derived from the school work and if you ensure that they have followed all topics closely, exams should not be a problem for them because by now you would have a better understanding of how far they have gone and their comprehension level.
CREATE A STUDY SCHEDULE OR PATTERN
At the beginning of the year, help them set up a study pattern that will help them get into the habit of regular revision, as the year goes by you can increase the intensity of their revision. Ensure that they try and maintain this pattern this will build confidence as the exams are approaching.
PRACTISE MOCK PAPERS
They say practice makes perfect and it is true with this, the more mock papers your child goes through the more confident they get with the exams. Use past papers from previous exams and see carefully the most common questions and how they were switched up in difference years. Let them do this over and over up until it is time for the final exam.
ADDRESS EXAM ANXIETY
Some people might enter an exam and they could have been well prepared but sometimes anxiety might get the best of them and end up panicking and doing the wrong thing. Your child might be feeling nervous or anxious about exams it is important to identify these feelings and properly address them. Do not dismiss any of their feelings but walk them through it so that they can build confidence.
LET THEM GET ENOUGH REST
It is important for your child to get proper rest and you need to let them know that as much as they are studying hard and putting in all the effort, their overall wellbeing is also important and they must not neglect it. By doing so you are teaching them how to manage their stress levels during a stressful period.
