Becoming one of the world’s biggest stages, Eminem, Kendrick Lamar, Mary J Blige, Snoop Dogg, and Dr Dre performed on the Super Bowl Halftime Show; this 2022 event took place just yesterday on the 13^th of February at the SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles. The Super Bowl, one of the biggest sporting events of the year in the United States, had the Los Angeles Rams take on the Cincinnati Bengals, but what many people are also talking about are the highlights of the halftime show, so read on and find out all the best parts from yesterday’s event!

Other musicians who have previously taken the stage during the Super Bowl Halftime Show include Beyoncé, Madonna, Coldplay, Katy Perry, U2, Lady Gaga, Michael Jackson, Jennifer Lopez, and Shakira. This year of 2022, other than the performers already aforementioned, there was a huge surprise guest star, which was none other than 50 Cent! The show was opened by Dr Dre and Snoop Dogg with “Still Dre” and “California Love”, before 50 Cent took over with “In Da Club”.

Mary J Blige came next with a performance of “Family Affair”, followed by a soulful “No More Drama”. Kendrick Lamar “commanded the spotlight next” as he started the track song “M.A.A.D. CITY” and “Alright”.

Next came Eminem, the self-professed ‘Rap God’, who “reminded listeners about the ever-present legend that remains Dr Dre with a few of his verses from the old-school anthem, ‘Forgot About Dre’. It was Dre who first gave Eminem his shot on the big stage.” The rapper left a big impression after his song “Lose Yourself” when he kneeled at the end of his performance for one minute. “The form of protest by kneeling was brought to the NFL by Colin Kaepernick, who first began sitting silently on benches during the national anthem, at the start of the 2016 season… protests against racial injustice.”

The entire group closed the show with a homage to Dr Dre “and his invaluable thumbprint on the music world”, they all performed “Still D.R.E.”; it is after all a historic appearance by all artists whose careers were created and set with the help of Dr Dre!
