HERE ARE ZAMBIA’S TOP COMEDIANS

Zambia has amazing talent when it comes to comedy, it has been this way for quite some time now and we have witnessed more and more people appreciate the art. Recently the list of nominees for the Diamond TV personality of the year awards came out and there was a category for comedians which was amazing but the list did not seem to fully reflect the comedy industry as there were some notably amazing talents left out and so we decided to compile a list a show case some of Zambia’s funniest people.

KAYSTAR AND KAPEMBWA

The ‘Tilowa’ duo changed the face of comedy when they came on to the scene, they brought their Mkushi accents and people instantly fell in love with them and they fell hard. The combination of the two gentlemen is just amazing, they have branded themselves quite well and are in a league of their own.

STEFFAN PHIRI

If you do not know who he is by now, you must be living under a rock, Stephan is a Facebook comedian that brings a totally different vibe to comedy, his jokes are funny and he just has an amazing vibe to him. His Comedy is social media based, he might be very young but the boy is surely talented.

BOB NKOSHA

This list would be incomplete without the King of Zambian comedy, he is a veteran in this field, he has been going strong year after year. His career reached new heights when he formed the character Dorika at that moment he was solidified in the industry.

MAGARITA STRESS RELIEF

Isaac is a social media comedian who shot to fame during the quarantine period, his hilarious Magarita character has become one of Zambia’s favourite things to watch. His comedy is centered around this one character but honestly Magarita is all you need. She is always finding herself in awkward situations that make for a great show.

SHIMUMBI

He has got to be one of the funniest people in Zambia, his talent is effortless, at times he looks like he is not even trying to be funny. He is one the few that made it to the Diamond TV list of nominee’s and this was very well deserved. You can catch him n his show ‘Shimumbi’ on Zambezi Magic.

KWESWE TEMBO

Kweswe is the youngest comedian on this list but he is certainly very funny. He came onto the scene during quarantine period, most people where going through so much and his social media comedy was a breath of fresh air. His comedy is slowly getting momentum and he brings a fresh perspective to comedy as he usually addresses issue’s common to the youth and he has been received quite well.

KABOVA

Kabova never takes off his Zambian flag and is one of the legends of Zambian comedy. His always getting up to ridiculous things and Zambians have been in love with Kabova for a really long time.

SAULOS

Saulos is the self proclaimed voice of the people in the ghetto. He was brought to light by The smooth talk show on ZNBC as he was a regular guest there in order to promote his material which he did and he brings sheds light on serious issue’s faced by under privileged people but of course in a funny way.

BWANA NJOMBE

Bwana Njombe is Zambia’s toughest cop, his comedy involves him permanently being in his cop uniform. He is one of Zambia’s favourite comedian. He is nominated for the Diamond TV personality award.
