Harry Styles Breaks Guinness World Record With “As It Was”

The British singer-songwriter Harry Styles released his newest single titled “As It Was” on Friday the 8th of April. Instantly, the track became a hit and collected millions of streams on the day of its release that led the star to earn himself the Guinness World Record title for the most streamed track on Spotify in 24 hours in the male category. It is no wonder Harry Styles made such a huge achievement in the music industry, as according to the Guinness World Records, the single “As It Was” saw 16,103,849 streams in its first 24 hours on Spotify!

From the moment of its release, “As It Was” became the most listened to song in 34 different countries, such as Australia, Venezuela, Iceland, and the United Arab Emirates. It replaced Olivia Rodrigo’s song “Divers License” as the most streamed track as it quickly gathered over 8.3 million listens.

The track “As It Was” itself is “based on the themes of isolation and loneliness of the coronavirus pandemic”. It has a “blend of retro 1980s echoes and contemporary upbeat sounds”, which was very much enjoyed by fans as it accumulated 16,103,849 streams in its first 24 hours on the platform Spotify, according to Spotify’s Global Top 200 daily chart.

The excitement for the newest Harry Styles track does not stop there, because the YouTube video of “As It Was” achieved 51,838,053 views with numbers still going up by the minute. The music video is a 1970s inspired shoot with iconic London landmarks, as well as a voiceover done by Harry Styles’ five-year-old daughter Ruby.
