GOSPEL ARTISTS ASK FANS TO PLACE THEIR POTYA VOTE ON ESTHER CHUNGU

Esther Chungu was recently nominated for the Diamond TV awards in the category of best gospel artist, alongside her husband Pompi, Abel Chungu, Ephraim and Yellow Dove, as per tradition nominated artists ask their fans to cast a vote for them because they want to take home the award or feel that they are most deserving. However for the gospel category it did not play out as we thought it would.

Abel Chungu put up a post on Facebook thanking his fans who have been voting for him and those that promised to vote for him but in a twist of events the post went on to say that as much as he appreciated their support and is grateful, he however felt that Esther Chungu is the one that deserved to win the gospel artist of the year award because he felt that she had an outstanding year this year as she performed on the global citizen stage in America alongside Coldplay and so he thought the award should be given to her and no one else. Esther’s husband Pompi shortly followed suit and took to his Facebook with the same sentiments, he too felt his wife should win this award.

Other Gospel artists such as T.I.M aka Thugga also thought Esther Chungu deserves this award more than anyone else and have publicly declared that they would love people to vote for her. The other two nominee’s Ephraim and Yellow Dove have not released a statement on the matter which most likely means they still would like to be considered for the award, however does this now put them under some kind of pressure to also forgo the award and give it to Esther Chungu? or does it put them in an awkward situation considering everyone has put it out there that Esther is deserving of the award and chances of her receiving the award at this point are quite high and it has put them at a disadvantage to a certain extent especially if they feel that they to put in the work and also deserve the award as much as anyone.

Ultimately the final decision belongs to the people that are voting and we just have to wait and see what the outcome will be, we wish all the nominees good luck. The awards will be taking place on the 20th of November 2021.
