First Look Unveiled For Lord Of The Rings Anime Movie

The feature-length anime film, The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim, is announced to be released on the 12th of April 2024; although that is a long way away, we finally have the first look unveiled for anyone who is excited to see the film! Warner Bros Pictures announced on Monday in a press release that the film, which is a joint project with Warner Bros Animation and New Line Cinema, is directed by Kenji Kamiyama and executive produced by Philippa Boyens – the latter who also worked on The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit trilogies!

Alongside the release, Warner Bros shared a first look concept art from the film that was created by Weta Workshop. The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim will tell the story of Helm’s Deep, focusing on the “life and bloodsoaked times of one of Middle-earth’s most legendary figures… the mighty King of Rohan… Helm Hammerhand.” Helm’s Deep was one of the locations heavily featured in Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers.

Joseph Chou will produce the film with a script from Phoebe Gittins and Arty Papageorgiou, which is based on a script from Jeffrey Addiss and Will Matthews. John Howe and Richard Taylor will return to The Lord of the Rings creative team, having been in the original film’s team; and, it has been confirmed that the animation work was started last year, with the voice cast “to be announced imminently”. The Warner Bros chairman, called Toby Emmerich, said, regarding The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim, that it will be “unlike anything audiences have ever seen.”
