EVERYTHING THAT WENT DOWN AT THE 2021 OCTOBERFEST
The October fest took place on Saturday the 9th, it was hosted by Kachinga aka mr 260, the successful event saw Lusaka residents turn out in large numbers at Papa Joe’s (R&G Arena), this years location was easier to access for people in attendance as compared to Chisamba where the event was previously held.

The Event started at exactly 14hrs and as scheduled Natasha Chansa performed on the mega stage, she gave one of the best performances of the day. All artists were expected to perform live alongside a band and the young artist impressed many as she was able to give an exceptional live performance, Kunkeyani the Jedi eventually joined her on stage and they performed their single ‘OMG’.
The stage was then graced by Kuni and Becky who are live performers so this was an easy task for them and they made sure they nailed their performance, they brought so much energy and complimented each others voices so well, fans loved every moment of their performance. 18hrs saw the dynamic duo Chanda na Kay on stage and at this point they changed the whole vibe, fans were seen flocking to the stage and began dancing to the vigorous tunes of the Kopala duo, at this point the party had certainly begun.

Jay Rox then took to the stage at about 19hrs with a very interesting opening, he put a lot of effort into his performance and fans appreciated what he brought to the table. He was joined by Roberto who performed two songs but sadly his performance left much to be desired as he seemed to have struggled through his live performance, Jay Rox later brought on Tommy D who featured on his hit song ‘Palabanda’ and the crowd was excited to see Tommy D and cheered him on.
T Sean took to the stage and gave a very energetic performance, he changed the vibe and gave the crowd a Jamaican feel with his dancehall style of music, after T Sean came Vjeezy who rocked the crowd with early 2000 music. The final performance was from Chef 187 who gave a great performance of his hit songs and eventually called Afunika and Sampa the great to the stage and each performed their songs.

When it came to the food and drinks it was well organized, there were a lot vendors who brought variety, getting your food was not an extreme hustle despite the number of people in attendance, same as the bar area people were presented with so many options which in turn avoided unnecessary queues. Prices were reasonable compared to other events.
All in all the event was a success and it was a great showcase of Zambian talent, previously the event would have an international headliner but this time around it was all Zambian artists and Zambians turned out in numbers to support their own, it has taken a while for Zambian music to be fully appreciated and it is great to see that finally happening.
