Emeli Sande beats Beatles chart record

Just when we thought she has wowed us enough Zambian Scottish singer/songwriter Emeli Sande has once again pulled one right out of the bag by beating the Beatles Chart record of 62 weeks in the top 10 UK charts.

Our Version Of Events Emeli’s début album was released in February of 2012 and went on to become the biggest selling album that year. it has since maintained its position in the top 10 Official UK Album Charts for 63 weeks. At only 26 Emelie has succeeded in taking over British music icons the Beatles who previously held the record at 62 weeks, a record that was held for almost 50 years with their album ‘Please Please Me’ between 1963 and 1964

Emeli Sande, Last year bagged 3 Awards at the MOBO Awards.

Our Version Of Events has sold 1.82 million copies in the UK and was number one on the Official Album Chart for 10 weeks. It broke the 100,000 sales in a week count on three separate occasions.

The BBC reported that the double Brit winner’s number one hit Next To Me was also the third most played pop song of 2012, according to data released by the UK music licensing company PPL.

Born of a Zambian father and Scottish mother Emeli Sande, is amongst other great Zambians around the world that are inspiring the coming generation in our communities, some that is definitely one to look up to and a TGZ Inspirational Figure.
