In less than the time it takes to drive from Lusaka to Livingstone, music and sports fans could be watching their favourite megastars live in South Africa thanks to the new direct flights launched from Lusaka to Durban this month.

There’s plenty to do in Durban in the coming months, from international musical acts such as Roxette and Rodriquez to world-class sports and inspiring exhibitions. Here are a few to watch out for:

Sultans of Swing

If you’re a fan of Dire Straits, then make sure you don’t miss the one-night-only performance of Sultans of Swing at The Barnyard Theatre at Gateway on Saturday, 17 October. For the past eight years, multi-talented musician and master guitarist Mel Botes, has tantalized audiences all over the country with his critically acclaimed musical performances in his series of Pink Floyd tribute shows.

Roxette in concert

Roxette`s on-going world tour will lead up to the celebration of the band`s 30th anniversary in 2016. “XXX – The 30th Anniversary Tour” has been celebrated by critics and fans all over the world, and the band has sold out several legendary arenas such as The O2 Arena in London, Olympia in Paris and Olympiahalle in Munich.

Four years have passed since Roxette last visited South Africa to perform six sold out shows on the world tour that followed the release of the album “Charm School” in February 2011. In January and February 2016, they will return with four arena shows that have now been added to their on-going world tour in Johannesburg, Durban, Port Elizabeth and Cape Town and it is now confirmed that Roxette`s anniversary year “2016” starts off with four concerts in South Africa. Due to the phenomenal demand that they received last time fans, are recommended to book their tickets quickly.

Getting to Durban

Proflight Zambia starts direct flights to Durban from September 22, 2015, linking Lusaka to one for the most exciting cities in South Africa.

Proflight will fly three times a week to Durban using its 50-seater CRJ-100 aircraft.

P0024 will leave Lusaka at 11:00hrs on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, arriving in Durban at 13:30hrs. The returning P0025 flight will leave Durban at 14:10hrs on Tuesdays and Thursdays arriving in Lusaka at 16:40hrs. On Sundays P0023 will leave Durban- at 12:00hrs and arrive back in Lusaka at 14:30hrs.

This means travellers from Lusaka and elsewhere in Proflight’s extensive network will be able to attend to business in Durban, go shopping, visit the sea and spend time on the beach, visit family and friends, go to concerts and shows, and attend rugby, football and cricket matches.

Fares start from $210 pp / K1,785 one-way excluding taxes, with children at half price.
