Ed Sheeran Announces Plans On Quitting Tours in 2022 To Spend Time With His Family

The 30-year-old singer Ed Sheeran has revealed that The Mathematics Tour will most likely be his last stadium tour as he would like to dedicate more time to his family, his wife Cherry Seaborn and their daughter Lyra, who is 16 months old. While speaking to the Teach Me A Lesson podcast on the 22nd of December, Ed Sheeran was asked what he would tell his older self; the answer to this question was that he thought it was key that he would not be choosing work over family.

The singer said, “I would hate to get to 20 years’ time and have a relationship with my kids that had suffered because I’d chosen work over them. I think the pattern I see a lot in my sphere is if I could go back, it would be this: ‘I would not miss this birthday and I would not go, yes I’ll play another stadium.’ I think it’s about finding the balance with that – and I honestly think that this next tour that I’m going on, at the end of the tour, I can’t see myself going on one of them like that again.”
He added that at most, he would be away for six weeks in summer or six weeks in winter, just to ensure that he does not end up missing out on spending time with his daughter and his wife, who is just a year younger than him.
He ended by saying, “I do think life is about passing things on to the next generation and I want to put as much time into my kids as possible.” Ed Sheeran and his wife Cherry Seaborn have been together since 2015, having married in 2019, they welcomed their first child called Lyra in August 2020.

The Mathematics Tour kicks off in Dublin Croke Park on the 23rd of April 2022, before Ed Sheeran performs across most of Europe until September 2022. If you would like to get tickets, then click HERE.
The star took a hiatus from music and touring in December 2019 before making a triumphant return to the industry in December 2020. Since then, he has topped the charts once again with his acclaimed album Equals.
