DJ BLOCKS JETS TO VEGAS
Blocks ready to headline Miller SoundClash final
LUSAKA, ZAMBIA – Zambia’s hottest disc spinner – DJ Blocks – headed to the epicentre of dance music in Las Vegas, USA this week to represent Zambia in the Miller SoundClash live final.
Blocks brings a high-energy, fresh twist to the craft through mixes that mash-up hip hop, house and other cool music genres. With his signature blend of upbeat and uplifting music, he believes he will be a favourite with the dance-music-loving multitude that will gather at this year’s event this week (September 24-28).

The winner of Zambia’s Miller SoundClash was offered a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to experience the glitz and glamour of Las Vegas. The programme will take DJ Blocks, along with his international competitors, behind the velvet ropes of the city’s elite clubbing scene, after which one final winner will take the grand prize.
“This is one of the most exciting moments of my life, perhaps the most exciting. Going to Vegas is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, an opportunity many DJs relish but have not been accorded. The fact that I have the opportunity that has eluded many is truly humbling and I have to say thanks to Miller Genuine Draft for making this possible. I am looking forward to the finals. I am focused, I am ready and I believe that I am going to do Zambia proud,” said Blocks just before his flight.

“It’s amazing, thrilling and exciting. Winning the regionals was great, it’s the first major event I have ever won. Hearing the crowd chant my name was surreal. I am looking forward to Vegas. There are going to be a lot of talented DJs but I want you to know that I’m in it to win it,” he added.
At last year’s SoundClash, held at the acclaimed Marquee Dayclub in Las Vegas, some 3,000 party-goers turned out in the searing Nevada desert heat to watch the SoundClash DJs play back-to-back sets in a bid to be crowned SoundClash champion.
Taking in the best clubs, bars, restaurants and rooftops the city has to offer, Miller SoundClash Las Vegas placed Miller Genuine Draft at the beating heart of dance music.
Miller’s Global Music Sound Clash is the ultimate international global DJ search competition that opens entries to all DJs globally hosted by Mix Cloud, a global music streaming service which offers a blanket music license and can legally host DJ mixes. DJ Blocks was chosen to represent Zambia in the final following a close battle in Lusaka last month where Julias Mwewa, also known as Sebastien Dutch, a full-time radio DJ on Rock FM was runner up in the competition.
The six finalists were DJ Ken, DJ Gavino, DJ Blocks, DJ Sebastien Dutch from Lusaka while DJ Fox and DJ Quake came from Kitwe.
The DJs were judged on a series of criteria, including mic use, flare, mixing ability and crowd appeal. The judges are DJ Rico Ricardo, DJ Kevin Van Boxtel, and Mushot Katayi.
