Detroit: Become Human Game Review

By  |

Detroit: Become Human depicts a fictional near-future story about a world where humans are served by lifelike androids. It showed us a future where human unemployment was high, and many people had become resentful of the androids. And the sentient androids rebel at being servants, and they launch their own rebellion.

In this game, we have the chance to play as three different characters, all androids with different objectives as follows:

Markus – a caretaker android who, after gaining consciousness, takes it upon himself to free others like him from bondage.

Connor – a police investigator android tasked with hunting down androids that have deviated from their programmed behaviours.

Kara – a housekeeper android who develops artificial consciousness and becomes responsible for a young girl’s safety.

The game was released on PlayStation 4 in 2018, and on Microsoft Windows in 2019. Since then, it has gathered a large following of fans. The game became Quantic Dream’s most successful launch and the most best-selling game yet.

This adventure game has multiple ending with many possible character deaths, which leads to all kinds of multiple endings. Every choice leads to a different outcome, but there is never a ‘game over’.

At the end of each chapter in the story, a flowchart is shown to the player, displaying the choices that were made and how it led to their ending. It also shows other choices that could have been made at certain points in the game.

However, the other choices come up with a question mark, so unless you reach that point, you will be unable to see what could have happened as opposed to what happened in your playthrough.

The story itself is chilling and can be terrifying in some moments of the game, but those moments are also the ones that give off the most goosebumps! There are many action and fighting scenes, as well as detective work and puzzle chapters.

The idea of androids living amongst humans, the discrimination, and the way the system is laid out is very thought provoking, causing many players to think deeply about each character and understand them in different ways, depending on the choices that you made.
