DAVE CHAPPELLE RETURNS TO NETFLIX AFTER BEING ‘CANCELLED’

Dave Chappelle is set to return to Netflix very soon despite facing major backlash for his controversial Transgender comments on his special ‘The closer’. Netflix made an announcement on Monday that Chappelle will be the star on Netflix is a joke festival at the Hollywood Bowl next year.
This announcement is coming only a few months after the heavy backlash the comedian had received for his comments, this lead to a serious call to have him ‘cancelled’ by cancel culture who were so displeased at his his LGBTQ comments.
Despite all the backlash he had received, Dave is back and returns to Netflix, during the backlash Netflix CEO has made it clear to their employee’s that they have long standing relationship with the comedian and despite pressure to remove ‘The closer’ special on their streaming platform, Netflix chose to keep it which indirectly pledges their support to the comedian and now before the dust even settles he is back.
The joke that got him in trouble was based on a previous observation by Harry potter writer JK Rowling, who said that transgender women are not really women but a threat to her identity. The comments lead the cancel culture to cancel the writer.
Dave felt the effects of the cancel culture as he lost many professional relationships due to people being heavily offended by his comments and some institutions that had scheduled to name their Hall of arts after Chapelle had put those plans on hold during that period and some have just chosen to distance themselves from him completely as they did not want the backlash to spill over to them.
However fellow comedians rallied behind Chapelle claiming that cancel culture is taking things too far and if they keep doing so, this will lead into comedians become too sensitive and in turn making the art of comedy boring. Kevin Hart recently called out the cancel culture in a short video clip as he was on vacation.
