Bill Murray is joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe

While discussing upcoming projects with the German magazine Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, Bill Murray revealed that he “made a Marvel movie recently”; although he did not mention which Marvel film he is set to appear in, it is easy to work out that he is speaking about ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’ due to his mention of the director having made the film ‘Bring It On’.

Bill Murray said, “You know, I recently shot a Marvel movie. I’m probably not supposed to tell you, but it doesn’t matter. Some people were quite surprised that I decided to do a project like this. But for me, the case was clear, I got to know the director, and I really liked him a lot. He was fun, humble, and everything you want in a director. So I agreed to do it, although these gigantic comic book productions do not usually interest me as an actor. And with the cheerleader story ‘Bring It On – Girls United’ he made a movie years ago, which I think is damn good.”

While Bill Murray does not directly say that he is starring in ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’, we know that the director is Peyton Reed, who is the same director for ‘Bring It On’, meaning that ‘Ant-Man’ must be the film that Murray was speaking about. It has not been confirmed what role he will be playing as in the action-comedy film; however, there is current speculation that he may play as Bob Lang, the father of Scott Lang played by Paul Rudd.

With everyone excited to hear Bill Murray appearing in the future Marvel film, it seems that this will be the only one he will appear in; during the interview with the German magazine Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, he said, “I’ve at least tried out what it’s like to shoot a Marvel movie. But I don’t think I need that experience a second time.”

‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’ is set to release in cinemas on the 28^th of July 2023, but if you would like to see Bill Murray before the Marvel film release, check out the upcoming film ‘Ghostbusters: Afterlife’ coming soon on the 18^th of November 2021; watch the trailer down below!
