86th Oscar Nominations Announced

By  |

The Golden Globes started off the award season gracefully, and the announcement of the 2014 Oscars nominations has really taken the excitement further. Yes the Oscar buzz is upon us with most of the critic favourites such as 12 years A Slave, and American Hustle receiving nominations under Best Picture and Directing nominations. The jury is still out on who will be taking the awards home as the calibre of nominees makes very little if not any room for making a choice. All nominees announced are nothing short of spectacular and by far one of the best lists of nominees in the history of the Academy Awards. The only surprise is the movie The Butler not making the cut, not a single nomination was received for the loosely based real life of Eugene Allen, not only was it critically acclaimed but it was also a surprise box office hit grossing approximately $161 million on a $30 million budget. This is a perfect example on how unpredictable the Academy Awards can be as proven in the history of the awards; not all box office hits or critically acclaimed movies get to have a nod.

2nd March will have all eyes at the Oscars as we see who will be clasping the golden statuette in the palms after hearing their name announced. If you have not made a trip down to your local cinema yet, we strongly suggest that you do, to void missing out on the excitement that comes with rooting for your favourite movie or actor. Take a look at the full list of nominees below, and join in on the fun of narrowing down your favourites.
