Best Street Food Markets In Europe

By  |

Food is more than just temporary pleasure in eating, it is a culture; food represents who we are as an individual, which is why eating is one of the best experiences every single country can offer. To get the full experience, I found some of the best street food marketplaces in Europe, so if you happen to be nearby or you are planning on travelling, then make sure you check one of these places out! What more could you want than a country’s special traditional local street food?

GREAT MARKET HALL, BUDAPEST

Covering three floors, the Great Market Hall is the place to find traditional street food dishes and is the perfect spot for culinary exploration for those wanting to experience the full scale of local foods. As well as ready-to-eat foods, visitors can buy other fresh goods and regional delicacies in the market.

BOROUGH MARKET, LONDON

This market is filled with over 100 stalls, with many of its market stallholders themselves being the producers. A range of hot dishes from the street food vendors will definitely have you coming back for seconds, so make sure you browse at all the options available from fresh British fruits and vegetables to international gourmet foods, handmade chocolate truffles, freshly baked goods, and so much more.

MERCATO CENTRALE, ROME

Made up of 18 food stalls, this is filled with fine dining, the finest food artisans, and diverse event spaces. There are many artisans’ food stands of some of the greatest chefs in Rome, so if you are looking for a variety of delicious Italian food options, then this is the place for you!

ALBERT CUYPMARKT, AMSTERDAM

As a city of culture and conscience, this is one of Europe’s largest and quirkiest street markets. It is one of the best places to buy your waffles, as well as indulge in a mixture of flavours from local to international dishes. With so many options to choose from of the many popular street food pop-ups, it can be difficult to choose one – so, maybe try all!

NASCHMARKT, VIENNA

Many famous national dishes that we know of were invented in Austria, such as croissant, schnitzel, and apple strudel. This country has one of the greatest culinary traditions, so sampling some of Naschmarkt foods should be on your must-try list whether you are travelling/living there or not.

SANTA CATERINA MARKET, BARCELONA

A vibrant and exciting city is bound to offer some of the best foods, and with over 100 stalls, tapas bars, and some great restaurants, the Santa Caterina Market becomes an instant favourite for both locals and tourists. There are quite a few hidden gem places there, such as the Vila Viniteca, which is a unique wine bar with over 300 types of cheese.
